Visitor Hub in Langley Vale Wood
A black spot dissolves in the haze of a British wood, like in a William Turner’s painting. An elongated black shape, made of wood boards painted with natural waterproofing tar, surfaces like a submarine.
A symbolic image. A monument. A memory you can recall with your eyes half closed.
The building is closed by walls exploding upward in a jagged chain of skylights, with openings at the opposite sides of a hallway, like a telescope.
From the inside of the building, what you can mainly perceive is what comes from the sky… Light, dark, stars, leaves, branches, sun, rain and snow.
A reflective pause along the corridor of memory, before returning to the forest.
